"The Watershed"

Thrilling, exciting, serene, sublime, aesthetic and awe-inspiring: a myriad of experiences awaits you in our watershed. For maps and information about other trails and trips, call the DLWA Office at 549-3836.

  • Paddle the Davis Stream in Jefferson, from the Damariscotta Lake Park Beach to the end of the stream and enjoy meandering through a hardwood flood plain forest to discover a diversity of wildlife. (2-3 hour trip).
  • Walk the Castle Rock Farm Trail (Newcastle) 1.25 miles through woods to Deer Meadow Brook. Deer, coyote, beaver, otter, moose are plentiful. Cardinal flowers and purple-fringed orchids flourish near the brook.
  • Take a walk on the West Branch Trail off Mountain Road.  Click here for a map.
  • Take a walk on the Davis Stream Trail right around the corner from the DLWA office.  Click here for a map.
  • Try the Hockomock Point Nature Trail (nearer the ocean). This is a one-mile one-way path with views of the Medomak River and Muscongus Bay.
  • Visit the fish ladder at Damariscotta Mills
