About Damariscotta Lake

Resources

Site Map

To help preserve the water quality of Damariscotta Lake and to keep the phosphorus flow from my property to a minimum, I pledge to:

1) Keep or plant a vegetation buffer along the lake shore on my property.

2) Avoid using excessive fertilizers and herbicides on my lawn.

3) Pump and/or check my septic system regularly.

4) Check my driveway, road and property for signs of erosion and correct any problem areas.

5) Dispose of oil, paint and other chemicals properly -- not on the land or into the septic system.

6) Minimize any site disturbances and use an erosion screen when doing construction or earth moving.

Furthermore, for the safety of others and to minimize erosion from boat wakes, I will observe the no wake zone within 200 feet of any shore, as determined by Maine state law.

For additional information, or if you would like to help rectify a potential problem around the lake, contact DLWA at 207-549-3836 or dlwa@roadrunner.com.
